ABSTRACT This research explores the attitude of Chennai residents toward using public transport as a strategy to reduce urban pollution. With Chennai experiencing rapid urbanization, vehicular emissions have emerged as a significant contributor to air pollution and deteriorating public health. Using a mixed-method approach, the study analyzes people’s perceptions, awareness levels, and behavioral patterns toward public transport usage. The findings highlight gaps in infrastructure, service quality, and public awareness, while also showcasing the willingness of many citizens to adopt eco-friendly commuting practices if reliable and affordable options are provided.
