D4.2 Roadmap and recommendations for training and transfer activities to market

Abstract

This report presents a strategic roadmap developed under Task 4.2 of the BlueMissionAA project to support the transition of innovative marine and coastal restoration solutions from concept to market. In response to the escalating threats posed by climate change and resource overexploitation, the report emphasizes the urgent need for nature-based solutions that restore ecosystem health while fostering biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and resilience to extreme events. Positioned within the Atlantic and Arctic Lighthouse of the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030,” BlueMissionAA aims to catalyze innovation by connecting scientific knowledge, best practices, and entrepreneurial tools. The report outlines an 8-step framework for launching a Restoration Purpose Business—an enterprise model that aligns profit with ecological and societal impact. It provides innovators, start-ups, and environmental entrepreneurs with practical guidance on business planning, pitching, investment readiness, and stakeholder engagement. By structuring this information into an accessible roadmap, the report empowers users to navigate the complexities of market entry and scale their solutions sustainably. Ultimately, it contributes to building a thriving innovation ecosystem that supports marine restoration and drives systemic change across Europe’s blue economy.
