Wikimedia y ciencia abierta: una alianza clave para democratizar el conocimiento científico desde América Latina

Abstract

[67] Este artículo analiza el potencial del ecosistema Wikimedia como infraestructura clave para implementar principios de ciencia abierta en América Latina. A partir de una revisión documental y el estudio de casos en Argentina, Brasil, Chile y Uruguay, se examina cómo proyectos como Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons y Wikisource pueden contribuir a la visibilidad, participación y reutilización del conocimiento científico, especialmente en contextos locales y comunitarios. El trabajo identifica cinco dimensiones clave de aporte: infraestructura abierta, visibilidad de la producción científica, apropiación social del conocimiento, interoperabilidad de datos y alfabetización digital. Asimismo, se abordan desafíos como las restricciones de licenciamiento, la baja visibilidad institucional, el desconocimiento técnico y las brechas de reconocimiento académico. Este análisis busca fortalecer el vínculo entre el movimiento Wikimedia y las políticas de ciencia abierta, proponiendo su integración como estrategia para democratizar el conocimiento científico en el sur global.
