Review of the spider fauna (Aranei) of the Chechen Republic, Russia

Abstract

A checklist of spiders of the Chechen Republic (Russia) has been compiled based on a critical analysis of literary data and processing of collection material. In total, 205 spider species from 29 families are registered in the region to date; 71 species are listed for the fauna of the republic for the first time. A new species, Mesiotelus zuevi sp. n. (Liocranidae), is described. The new species is close to Mesiotelus kravetsi Fomichev, Zamani et Marusik, 2024 known from Dagestan (Russia), from which it differs in its smaller size, darker colouration, details in the structure of the copulatory organs, namely the shape of the tibial apophysis of the male palp, the base of the tegular process, much greater sclerotization of the lateral edges of the epigynal fovea and their direction.
