D2.3. Educators and schools training report 2

Abstract

This document is a deliverable of the SHORE Project, funded under the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under the grant agreement No 101112815. Deliverable D2.3 reports the activities undertaken by the seven Country Hubs in the second year of the project as part of Work Package 2 (WP2): Blue Skills and Blue Literacy Development. WP2 aims to develop, adapt, and implement teachers’ routes focused on the project’s five thematic topics: Sea-based activity, Biodiversity, Hazardous Substances, Climate Change, and Sustainable Use of Resources. The project provides both educational resources and references to external material that can strengthen ocean and water literacy within schools. The activities focused on equipping teachers with new methodologies, engaging students in experiential learning, and ensuring that blue education materials are accessible in local contexts and languages on SHORE’s community platform at https://shoreedu.com. To accomplish this goal, the Country Hubs (YTU, GSNE, Mare Nostrum, UNIPD, KUW, BME, WSB) organized workshops, training sessions, webinars, and capacity-building events tailored for both teachers and students. They translated and contextualized educational materials, and provided mentorship for the integration of blue literacy into classroom teaching. Additionally, the hubs worked to expand the European Network of Blue Schools, supporting schools in the application process, and facilitated the co-creation of innovative activities such as interactive digital tools, hands-on workshops, and community-oriented learning projects.
