The geopolitical and economic impact of Brexit is analyzed in light of the post-functional-interactionist school. It is proposed that the referendum phenomenon lacked sufficient material motivations and, instead, was driven by symbolic-alterity motivations. To this end, a discriminated review of the most recent scientific literary sources on the geopolitical and economic impact of Brexit is conducted, in order to assess the central forecasts of both the leave and remain campaigns. Subsequently, the relatively limited impact of Brexit on the geopolitical capabilities and reach of the United Kingdom up to 2024 is observed, based on the proposed bibliographic design. In the absence of significantly fulfilled forecasts, it is suggested that the polarizing discourse lacked sufficient scientific foundation and used forecasts as an emotional tool to amplify the polarizing sentiment towards Europe. The conclusion, through dissertation, addresses the conceptual relevance of post-functionalism and interactionism tools in the political decision made in 2020, which would explain the activation of forms of group identity feelings above proven material reality..
