
Abstract:Background: Teachers’ teaching commitment is a vital component of educational successbecause it directly influences students’ academic achievement and overall schoolperformance.Objective: This study aimed to explore the influence of school principal leadership on teacherteaching commitment in Catholic elementary schools in Merauke, South Papua, Indonesia.Method: We utilized a quantitative research approach using a survey research design toobtain data from a total of 95 Catholic elementary school teachers in Merauke, South Papua,Indonesia. Obtained data were subjected to a quantitative statistical analysis using a simplelinear regression analysis by employing Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 25.Findings: The results of data analysis show a positive and significant effect of schoolprincipal leadership in teacher teaching commitment in Catholic elementary school teachers inMerauke, South Papua, Indonesia.Implication for Practice and Research: The findings the findings highlight the need tostrengthen leadership capacity among school principals through continuous professionaldevelopment and leadership training. Effective leadership fosters a supportive and collaborativeschool climate, which enhances teacher motivation and contributes to improved teaching qualityand student learning outcomes. Educational authorities and stakeholders are encouraged to investin leadership development initiatives as a strategic means to promote teacher commitment andsustain educational excellence.
