Abstract

A História Oculta de Coimbra: Visitando os Vestígios do Estado Novo Este artigo explora a cidade de Coimbra como um palco histórico que revela vestígios visíveis do regime autoritário do Estado Novo (1933-1974) e os legados deixados na sua arquitetura e instituições. Através de uma série de visitas guiadas e palestras, o artigo analisa como a cidade e os seus edifícios serviram como ferramentas de propaganda e controlo político durante o regime de Salazar. Desde a Faculdade de Letras até à Biblioteca Joanina, passando por marcos como o Paço das Escolas e o Departamento de Ciências da Vida, são expostas as intervenções urbanísticas e arquitetónicas que consolidaram a narrativa oficial da ditadura. A visita é conduzida pelo Professor João Paulo Cabral de Almeida Avelãs Nunes, especialista em história do Estado Novo, que traça as conexões entre os espaços visitados e o legado ideológico do regime. O artigo também analisa a transição do país para a democracia, refletindo sobre o impacto histórico e social das mudanças pós-revolução de 25 de abril de 1974, com uma ênfase especial na justiça transicional e no processo de recuperação da memória histórica. Com uma abordagem multidisciplinar, este trabalho combina história, arquitetura e análise social para oferecer uma visão crítica sobre como as cidades podem refletir e preservar as complexas narrativas de regimes autoritários, ao mesmo tempo que questiona os processos de reparação e reconhecimento da verdade.
