Potencial de los forrajes para producir ensilaje de calidad

Abstract

El objetivo del documento es ofrecer la metodología necesaria para determinar el potencial de un forraje para producir ensilados de calidad y brindar los parámetros de fermentación e indicadores organolépticos más relevantes que se deben tomar en cuenta para determinar la calidad de un ensilado. En el escrito se detalla que, para obtener un ensilado de excelente calidad, el forraje a ensilar debe tener como mínimo un 25 % de MS, un alto contenido de carbohidratos solubles (≥ 12 %) y baja capacidad buffer (< 250 meq NaOH/kg MS) y nitratos (< 10 %) en base seca. Además, el pH del ensilado debe ser igual o inferior a 4, con alto contenido de ácido láctico y trazas o no presencia de ácido butírico. Al mismo tiempo, el forraje conservado debe tener un color verde olivo, olor agradable a frutas maduras, textura bien definida y sin presencia de efluentes.
