Personalisation has become a central ambition in contemporary higher education, particularly in online and distance learning. Flexible, digitally enhanced education enables learners to progress at their own pace, follow individual pathways, and engage with content aligned to their goals and prior knowledge. Recognising the strategic importance of this transformation, EADTU established the Task Force on Personalisation of Education in 2024. Bringing together experts from thirteen EADTU member institutions , the Task Force has explored definitions, institutional strategies, pedagogical models, and technological enablers of personalisation. This report synthesises their work, offering a conceptual foundation, practical insights, and strategic recommendations for implementing meaningful, scalable, and ethical personalisation in higher education. It serves as both a knowledge base and a roadmap for universities aiming to enhance learner agency, equity, and success through personalised, data-informed, and human-centred education.
