
The modern landscape of project management is characterized by complex, interdependent tasks that often challenge traditional planning methodologies. While existing frameworks like the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Kanbanexcel at task decomposition and workflow visualization, they frequently fall short in explicitly representing and enforcingthe sequential dependencies inherent in many projects. This paper introduces Dependency Flow Planning (DFP), a novelmethodology designed to address this gap. DFP fundamentally reverses the traditional top-down hierarchy, defining a project not by a single, large goal but by a bottom-up flow where parent tasks are the logical next steps unlocked by the completion of their child tasks. The methodology is grounded in three core principles: a child-to-parent flow, strict and enforced task dependencies, and avisual mapping canvas. This approach creates a clear, action-oriented roadmap that prevents common errors like startingtasks prematurely and provides an intuitive, at-a-glance view of a project’s critical path. Through a comparative analysis,this paper demonstrates how DFP can be used to complement established methodologies, offering a powerful tool for strategic planning and tactical execution. The findings suggest that DFP provides a more robust and intuitive solution for managing complex, sequential projects, paving the way for improved efficiency and clearer communication.
