AD4GD Outcomes Booklet: Research for a FAIR and integrated European Green Deal Data Space

Abstract

AD4GD (All Data for Green Deal) was a Horizon Europe project that conducted research and deployment of key components for the Green Deal Data Space (GDDS), guided by the FAIR (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, Reusability) principles. These components were motivated and validated by three pilot cases focused on the main priorities of the European Green Deal in specific locations: monitoring water quality and quantity of small lakes in Berlin, assessing habitat connectivity dynamics in Catalonia, and improving the resolution of Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) air quality maps with urban citizen science. The main outcomes of AD4GD include: Uplifting the meaning of Earth observation data and observations. Enabling trusted processing of machine learning data in the cloud. Evaluating and testing the use of Eclipse Dataspace Connectors together with OGC APIs for the GDDS. Demonstrating that newly developed OGC API standards can be added to the GDDS trustworthy implementations. In collaboration with other Horizon Europe projects, such as GREAT, FAIRiCUBE, B3, USAGE and SAGE, AD4GD has contributed to shaping the future of the Green Deal DataSpace. This booklet is a compilation of the main exploitable results of the AD4GD project. It is a detailed collection of the main components for the GDDS, ready to be used, reused or learned from. It also includes a description of the three AD4GD pilots that have served to demonstrate the applicability of these components for the GDDS in specific cases aligned with the priorities of the European Green Deal on water quality, biodiversity protection and air quality.
