Abstract

Wie kann ein verwilderter Gemeinschaftsgarten zu einem Ort der Begegnung, Jugendförderung und Nachhaltigkeit werden? Die Autorinnen, Melanie Künzle und Harun Olgun, Projektleitende der Hochschule Luzern, Soziale Arbeit, beleben im Auftrag des Jugendkulturhauses Treibhaus Luzern das Projekt "Urban Gardening". Ziel ist es, ein Konzept zu schaffen, das Jugendliche aktiv in die Planung, Pflege und Gestaltung des Gartens einbindet. Der Garten soll nicht nur soziale Kompetenzen fördern und Verantwortungsbewusstsein stärken, sondern auch ökologische Prinzipien praktisch erlebbar machen. Mittels einer strukturierten Herangehensweise bestehend aus Konzeptentwicklungund Umsetzung beziehungsweise Probedurchlauf, sowie deren Evaluation, soll der Gemeinschaftsgarten zu einem lebendigen Lern- und Begegnungsort werden. Dieser soll die Werte des Treibhauses widerspiegeln und Jugendlichen ermöglichen, neue Fähigkeiten zu entwickeln. Doch ein Garten wächst selten so, wie man ihn sich im Voraus ausmalt. Oft entwickeln sich gerade dort, wo Pläne an ihre Grenzen stossen, neue und unerwartete Wege. So auch in diesem Projekt: Zwischen Vision und Realität traten Dynamiken auf, die nicht vorhersehbar waren, und die entscheidend prägten, was aus dem Garten werden konnte. Welche überraschenden Wendungen sich daraus ergaben, entfaltet sich im weiteren Verlauf dieses Berichts.
