K-THEORY: A QUANTITATIVE METRIC FOR THE UNIVERSE'S COMPLEXITY

Abstract

ABSTRACT A new formalism for the quantitative assessment of the efficiency of hierarchical synthesis in complex systems is presented — the General Theory of Hierarchical Synthesis (GTHS). A parameter K is introduced — the synthesis efficiency coefficient, defined as the ratio of the system's complexity increase to the product of the energy expended and the reduction in entropy. Calculations of K for various hierarchical transitions are provided: synthesis of a water molecule (K = 0.39), DNA assembly (K = 1.85), and neural network formation (K = 1665). An exponential growth in synthesis efficiency is observed when transitioning to higher levels of matter organization. 1. INTRODUCTION Existing approaches to describing complex systems:• Thermodynamics: operates with energy (E) and entropy (S)• Information Theory: measures information capacity (I)• Synergetics: studies the emergence of propertiesProblem: The absence of a unified parameter that quantitatively links energy costs with the increase in systemic complexity.Solution: Parameter K, combining E, ΔS, and ΔI into a single measure of synthesis efficiency. 2. METHODOLOGY 2.1. Basic Definitions K = ΔI / (|ΔS| × E) where: · ΔI — increase in system complexity [uK] · ΔS — change in entropy [kJ/(mol•K)] · E — activation energy of the process [kJ/mol] 2.2. Method for Calculating ΔI I(system) = I_compression + Sf • I_compression — size of the compressed formalized system description (LZMA algorithm)• Sf — synergetic factor: +10 uK for each emergent property The formalized description is performed in an XML-like language: xml 3. RESULTS 3.1. Calculation for H₂O Molecule · ΔI = +20 uK · E = 573 kJ/mol · ΔS = -0.0888 kJ/(mol•K) · K = 0.39 3.2. Calculation for DNA (10 base pairs) · ΔI = +370 uK · E = 400 kJ/mol · ΔS = -0.5 kJ/(mol•K) · K = 1.85 3.3. Calculation for Neural Network (1000 neurons) · ΔI = +3330 uK · E = 20 kJ/mol · ΔS = -0.1 kJ/(mol•K) · K = 1665 4. DISCUSSION 4.1. Observed Pattern An exponential growth of K is detected when transitioning to higher organizational levels: Level K Molecular (H₂O) 0.39 Biological (DNA) 1.85 Neural (Consciousness) 1665 4.2. Interpretation of Results · K 1000: Threshold for the emergence of consciousness · The growth of K indicates the optimization of complexity creation pathways in the Universe 5. CONCLUSIONS 1. A new formalism for the quantitative assessment of hierarchical synthesis efficiency has been proposed. 2. A parameter K — the synthesis efficiency coefficient — has been introduced. 3. A law of exponential growth of K during transitions to higher organizational levels has been discovered. 4. It has been demonstrated that consciousness is the most efficient form of matter organization. 6. RESEARCH PROSPECTS 1. Creation of a database of K-coefficients for various hierarchical transitions. 2. Development of methods for predicting K for hypothetical systems. 3. Application of the approach for:o Search for extraterrestrial lifeo Optimization of artificial intelligenceo Synthesis of new materials Calculation ExamplesComplete formalized descriptions of systems and detailed calculations are available upon request. Calculation AlgorithmA Python implementation of the algorithm is available upon request. This document has been prepared in accordance with the principles of scientific integrity. 2. Основные определения K = ΔI / (|ΔS| × E) где: · ΔI — прирост сложности системы [uK] · ΔS — изменение энтропии [кДж/(моль·K)] · E — энергия активации процесса [кДж/моль] 2.2.
