A map of terrestrial ecosystems of Namibia is presented here. The map is at Level 5 (Global Ecosystems) of the IUCN Global Ecosystem Typology, with cross-referencing to higher-order Levels (Levels 2 to 4). Within the enclosed document 'Background to Ecosystems of Namibia Map_2025' details are provided on how this map was created and what information is provided in the attributes table. A full description of these ecosystems is being compiled at present and will be published in due course. The Ecosystems of Namibia Map was created under the ‘Building biodiversity knowledge for action in Southern Africa: Spatial Biodiversity Assessment, Prioritization and Planning (SBAPP) in South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique and Malawi’ (the “SBAPP” Project”) funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the Fonds Français pour l'Environnement Mondial (FFEM). Version 4.16b (Revision 1) is a greatly cleaned version of the originally published version, with numerous geometry problems resolved.
