Open Data & Open Government Data. Chancen für KMUs

Webinar-Reihe "Wissen macht Zukunft" des Projektes Regionales Zukunftszentrum Süd
Authors: Putnings, Markus;

Open Data & Open Government Data. Chancen für KMUs

Abstract

The presentation explores the potential of Open Data and Open Government Data for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It begins with a systematic introduction to the concepts and distinctions between open research data and open government data, including their contexts of origin, licensing models, quality standards, and objectives. It also highlights the opportunities that arise for SMEs through the use of open data, such as competitive advantages, the promotion of innovation, cost reduction, and the development of new business models. Using a concrete practical example – the use of open data for AI-based fire-fighting drones – it demonstrates how SMEs or start-ups can strategically leverage open data sources. In addition, relevant data repository directories, data portals, data search engines, and legal aspects of data reuse are presented.
