Charta der GFBio-Datenzentren

Abstract

The following organisations are long-standing members of the association GFBio - Gesellschaft für Biologische Daten e.V. and have jointly developed a charter: Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin (BGBM) Leibniz Institute DSMZ – German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research Gatersleben (IPK) Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change (LIB) Museum für Naturkunde – Leibniz Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity Science (MfN) PANGAEA – Data Publisher for Earth & Environmental Science Senckenberg – Leibniz Institution for Biodiversity and Earth System Research (SGN) State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart (SMNS) Bavarian State Collections of Natural History (SNSB) They each operate one of the data centers that develop coordinated technical and organizational processes under the umbrella of the association, thus representing a unique selling point in the German biodiversity research landscape. In accordance with its statutes, the association strives to establish and strengthen infrastructures for biological data together with its members. This includes, in particular, the network of the Data Centers in GFBio e.V. Data scientists of the Data Centers have formed a working group within the association and developed a joint charter. This document formulates the self-image of the GFBio Data Centers and is intended to form the basis for their further development as domain-specific collection and infrastructure facilities within the framework of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) and beyond. The document ‘Charta der GFBio-Datenzentren’ was signed by the nine founding member organisations of the GFBio Data Centers working group represented by their directors.
