FLOWERS OF VICTORY

Abstract

The report examines flower varieties created by Soviet, Russian and Belarusianbreeders during the Great Patriotic War, in the post-war period and the present, the names of whichreflect the main milestones of the Great Patriotic War. Brief historical information is given,explaining the «military» names of flowers. It is shown that these varieties of flowers united in ourmemory the seemingly incompatible concepts of «war» and «flowers» and became a strong threadthat connected the past and the present.The article provides information that modern breeders in the field of ornamental floriculturecontinue to keep the “Green Chronicle” of the history of the Great Patriotic War, which was startedin 1942 by breeders who participated in the war.
