Promovendo a argumentação matemática por meio da exploração da tarefa "Comparação de áreas"

Abstract

O presente artigo apresenta uma análise e discussão reflexiva sobre a prática argumentativa desenvolvida pelos estudantes durante o diálogo matemático mediado pelo professor, em uma das aulas da unidade curricular de Matemática I, destinada aos estudantes do 1.º ano do curso de formação inicial de professores. O estudo teve como objectivo promover o desenvolvimento da argumentação matemática por meio da resolução da tarefa “Comparação de Áreas”. Para a conquista do objectivo, a tarefa foi proposta aos estudantes com a orientação de que fosse resolvida em pequenos grupos e, posteriormente, discutida colectivamente. Os resultados indicam que a tarefa se mostrou eficaz no fomento à prática argumentativa, permitindo aos estudantes a construção de argumentos com estrutura básica e bem organizada, classificados predominantemente como empíricos, genéricos e simbólicos. O papel orquestrador do professor nas apresentações foi determinante, uma vez que seus questionamentos possibilitaram que os estudantes clarificassem e fundamentassem seus raciocínios. A forma de colecta dos dados revela que a pesquisa realizada adoptou uma abordagem metodológica de natureza qualitativa.
