The dataset is provided as an excel file that contains the following 39 fields: occurrenceID, EntryCode, Version, acceptedNameUsage, acceptedNameUsageID, ScientificName, scientificNameAuthorship, scientificNameID, vernacularName, kingdom, phylum, subphylum_subdivision, class, order, family, genus, occurrenceStatus, date, year, eventDate, locality, verbatimLocality, decimalLatitude, decimalLongitude, SourceGeoRef, Habitat, degreeOfEstablishment, Abund, eventRemarks, type, SourceType, SourceOccur, Realm, NativeRange_Cont, NativeRange_subCont, SourceNativ, OtherObs, dbEntryProvider, basisOfRecord. A READ ME explains how each field is used in the database. Version 1 of the dataset contains 1516 entries for 121 non-indigenous species (NIS). Sources of data are indicated as a reference list in a separate spreasheet.
This dataset lists observations of non-indigenous species (NIS) historically reported for Portugal estuarine and marine waters up to 2018, with a few records also in 2019 and 2020. It is a result from the Master Thesis in Applied Ecology of Diana Rute Cunha Santos Lino Pinheiro, with the title “Assessment of the vulnerability of the Ria de Aveiro Natura 2000 site to the impacts of invasive alien marine species (2019)” (EN) /“Avaliação da vulnerabilidade do sítio rede natura 2000 da Ria de Aveiro aos impactos de espécies exóticas invasoras marinhas (2019)” (PT) under supervision of Dr. Heliana Teixeira and Dr. Ana Isabel Lillebø. Methodological details on this dataset compilation are described in that thesis document; available through: https://ria.ua.pt/handle/10773/28308.
