The type material of Tetrapedia haeckeli Friese, 1910, T. testacea var. nigriceps Friese, 1899, T. pygmaea Schrottky, 1902 and T. punctifrons Smith, 1879 are studied and lectotypes designated for the first three names. Taxonomic notes are provided, and sterna 6–8, genitalia, face and mesoscutum of Paratrapedia haeckeli are illustrated. The subgenus Paratetrapedia (Amphipedia) Michener & Moure, 1957 is here synonymized with Paratetrapedia (Lophopedia).
