A recent scoping review on the role of AI in perpetuating or combat-ting nursing credential evaluation fraud has revealed a critical need for collabo-rative research. Nurse credential evaluation is a key regulatory mechanism which protects patient safety and enables global nursing workforce development. The process relies on painstakingly applied human expertise in complex regulatory environments. Employment fraud is on the rise and nursing credential evaluation fraud has the potential to put lives at risk. Expert systems to augment human decision-making and streamline workflows are urgently needed. This scoping study details research opportunities to address a significant gap in the literature.
