Speech Technology Meets Early Language Acquisition: How Interdisciplinary Efforts Benefit Both Fields — Tutorial at Interspeech 2025

Abstract

These are the slides from our tutorial “Speech Technology Meets Early Language Acquisition: How Interdisciplinary Efforts Benefit Both Fields” presented at Interspeech 2025 (August 17, 2025, Rotterdam, Netherlands). The tutorial introduces core ideas from language acquisition research to speech technology researchers, and explores how advances in speech modeling can inform theories of early language learning, and in turn how insights from language acquisition can inspire new directions in speech technology.
