Model: How semi-natural habitats can maximally support nautral pest control

Abstract

This is an updated model of ArableLandscape-PestControl_version1 (ArableLandscape-PestControl_version1) also with new analyses scripts. The functions_model script contains different versions of the model of which lvpred_ref_hibwood and lvpred_ref_hibwood_mowingmort are the most up-to-date and are used for analyses. This model simulates how different landscape compositions, including early-season crops, late-season crops, flower-rich field margins, and woody areas, affect the survival and effectiveness of hoverflies as natural pest control agents of aphids. The model contains 3 distinct habitats: (1) Woody habitat, (2) an early crop with a flower margin and (3) a late crop with a flower margin.
