The Use of Clear Aligner Therapy for Orthognathic Surgery Patients: A Cross-Sectional Survey Among Saudi Orthodontics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons

Abstract

This dataset contains the full manuscript of “The Use of Clear Aligner Therapy for Orthognathic Surgery Patients: A Cross-Sectional Survey Among Saudi Orthodontists and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons”. The study explores the knowledge, experiences, and attitudes of Saudi clinicians toward the use of clear aligner therapy (CAT) in orthognathic surgery cases. A cross-sectional online survey was conducted between April and May 2023, yielding 46 complete responses. The results indicate limited clinical experience with CAT in surgical orthodontics, with most clinicians favoring traditional fixed appliances for pre- and post-surgical management. Age was found to be a significant predictor of CAT adoption, while gender and years of experience showed no effect. The study highlights the need for larger multicenter studies, standardized clinical protocols, and enhanced postgraduate training to improve CAT integration into surgical orthodontic practice.
