Abstract: India’s digital finance landscape has undergone a radical transformation, spurred by foundational infrastructure such as UPI and Aadhaar, acceleration in fintech innovation (AI, blockchain, embedded finance), and evolving regulatory frameworks (CBDC, Account Aggregators). This paper presents an updated assessment of infrastructure evolution, product and service innovation, regulatory architecture, and future challenges drawing on recent quantitative data and qualitative studies. We highlight how digital finance is redefining inclusion and economic empowerment, particularly in rural and underserved demographics. Finally, we propose a roadmap addressing security readiness (e.g. quantum-resilient systems) and interoperability for the next phase of growth.
