La carta de la tierra y sus aplicaciones en el contexto universitario mexicano

Abstract

El presente capítulo ofrece un análisis de la Carta de la Tierra, un documento de alcance global que emerge como una propuesta integral para abordar la crisis socioambiental y civilizatoria. Su objetivo primordial es catalizar la transición hacia una sociedad más justa, sostenible y pacífica. La Carta se estructura en cuatro pilares interconectados: respeto y cuidado de la comunidad de vida, integridad ecológica, justicia social y económica, y democracia, no violencia y paz, de los cuales se desprenden 16 principios generales y 64 directrices de acción. Este documento busca fomentar una profunda concientización que se traduzca en un cambio de comportamiento colectivo, invitando a la ciudadanía mundial a una corresponsabilidad universal en el cuidado del medio ambiente. Promueve una visión holística y sistémica de la realidad, que trasciende enfoques limitados de desarrollo, al reconocer los derechos de la naturaleza. En México, la Carta ha sido fundamental para la integración de la sustentabilidad en el ámbito universitario, influyendo en la ambientalización de planes de estudio y en la creación de programas de protección ambiental, contribuyendo a la formación ética de futuros profesionales.
