Abstract

El discurso de odio se ha convertido en una constante de la conversación digital, con una presencia sostenida en redes sociales y espacios informativos en línea. Los medios de comunicación, por su visibilidad, capacidad de influencia y exposición reiterada, se han situado en el centro de este fenómeno. A través de comentarios hostiles, ataques ideológicos y expresiones polarizantes, el periodismo se ha visto interpelado de forma directa en su labor cotidiana. Este informe forma parte del proyecto de investigación HATEMEDIA (PID2020-114584GB-I00) y presenta una radiografía del odio digital dirigido a los medios informativos españoles en tres soportes clave: Twitter/X, Facebook y los portales web de cinco cabeceras representativas (El País, El Mundo, ABC, La Vanguardia y 20 Minutos). El estudio analiza 9.778.857 comentarios publicados entre enero de 2021 y junio de 2022, etiquetados por tipo de odio (político, misógino, xenófobo, sexual o general) y por nivel de intensidad (de tono incívico a amenaza directa). Los resultados evidencian que más del 50 % de los mensajes contienen expresiones hostiles, con una predominancia del odio político y general. Estos mensajes afectan directamente a la credibilidad, seguridad y autonomía profesional de periodistas y redacciones. A través del análisis sistemático de estos datos, el informe no solo ofrece una lectura empírica del odio digital, sino que propone claves para su detección, prevención y gestión desde una perspectiva ética y profesional. El objetivo final es claro: dotar al periodismo de herramientas para comprender mejor el entorno actual en el que trabaja, proteger la calidad del debate público y reforzar el papel de los medios como garantes de una comunicación veraz, plural y libre de violencia simbólica.
