
ALTAA: analysis of long-term activity patterns in ant colonies Description of the data and file structure Motion data were collected for groups of black garden ants (Lasius niger) under varying experimental conditions to analyze spatiotemporal activity patterns. Groups differed in ant number and brood presence. Motion tracking, computing motion contours and its center points were performed using computer vision algorithms implemented on a single-board computer system. Each dataset spans one week of continuous monitoring, capturing motion data points per second and hourly snapshot images of the ant groups. ALTAA_data.zip has two folders (with and without brood). Each has several folders with different number of ants (i.e. 1, 6 or 10). Each folder with a specific number of ants has actual data folders, each named with its record starting date in the format of YYYYMMDD, which has CSV files (motion data; its name is in the format of rslt_YYYY_MM_DD_HH_MM_SS.csv), hourly snapshot images and software log files (mainly with temperature data). The code base for analyzing this data will be uploaded to a Github repository after the publication in a journal.
