GW250114 discovery paper figure scripts

Authors: LIGO Scientific Collaboration, Virgo Collaboration and KAGRA Collaboration;

GW250114 discovery paper figure scripts

Abstract

This data release, GW250114_data_release.tar.gz, contains code and data required to reproduce the figures in the GW250114 discovery paper and its supplement. It contains the following folders: figures, which containes saved versions of all the paper's plots; data, which contains the analysis results, except for the posterior samples; scripts, which contains all the code required to reproduce the plots. Additionally, it contains scripts and notebooks used to compute the numbers quoted in the paper. It also contains the file pyproject.toml, which outlines the project's dependencies. Instructions for how to run the scripts, as well as which script corresponds to which plot, can be found in the file scripts/README. Posterior samples for all approximants are provided separately. Some figures (1, 3 and 4) can be reproduced without these posterior samples, while the others require them. In order to reproduce all figures, download the posterior samples to the data folder. All figures except for figure 6 can be reproduced with only posterior_samples_NRSur7dq4.h5. An additional NRSur7dq4 run is provided in this data release; it was performed without accounting for detector calibration. The scripts folder also includes scripts that were used to compute several numbers quoted in the paper, such as the significance of the area law test.
