
This white paper provide a comprehensive examination of data federation within a Trusted Research Environment (TRE), using Aridhia’s collaboration with the PHEMS consortium as a practical, real-world example. In addition, the paper introduces the Federated Node - a software component developed by Aridhia to execute federated tasks across multiple data sources without the need to centralize the data itself. Recently released under an open-source license, the Federated Node represents a significant step forward enabling scalable, collaborative research while upholding the highest standards of data protection.
