Code, model, and analysis data for simulation of wind and solar energy generation over California with E3SM SCREAM regionally refined models at 3.25 km and 800 m resolutions

Abstract

SCREAM_fork.tar.gz : The code used to generate all simulations for the paper entitled "Simulation of wind and solar energy generation over California with E3SM SCREAM regionally refined models at 3.25 km and 800 m resolutions" to be submitted to Geoscientific Model Development. The SCREAM 3.25 km and 800 m CARRMs (Regionally Refined Models) source code is also available on GitHub at: https://github.com/jsbamboo/E3SM/tree/jzhang/update20231221_bogensch_CA_32xRRM (for SCREAMv0, last access: 11 Aug 2025) and an archive (CApySAM-CA3kmCA800m-SCREAMv0-v0.0; https://github.com/jsbamboo/E3SM/releases/tag/CApySAM-CA3kmCA800m-SCREAMv0-v0.0, last access: 11 Aug 2025) files_CApySAM_scream-3km800m-CARRMs-v0.0.zip : The runscripts, model, and reanalysis data used for analysis and figures in the paper. A backup can be found on NERSC HPSS protal: https://portal.nersc.gov/archive/home/z/zhang73/www/files_CApySAM_scream-3km800m-CARRMs-v0.0 S1_EIA.CA.2013_2023_wind_2.5_plants.pdf The lists of valid EIA wind plants in California used in our analysis. S2_EIA.CA.2013_2023_solar_2.5_plants.pdf The lists of valid EIA solar photovoltaic plants in California used in our analysis.
