The article introduces the debate on racialized teachers, minority teachers, immigrant teachers, or teachers of immigrant origin and with migrant background, as they have been variously defined. Although unexplored in the Italian context, the topic has been widely analyzed in international research, which examines the impact of racialization on these teachers’ professional identity and working conditions. Their presence can help counter structural racism and foster more inclusive school environments. Finally, the reflective exercise of a racialized teacher provides insights into subjective and systemic fragilities, as well as potentials and challenges for an anti-racist Italian school.
