
A comprehensive interview was conducted with Prof. Dr. Metin Özuğurlu on how social policy can be understood through a class struggle-oriented perspective. Prof. Özuğurlu addressed the historical development of social policy, the dominance of individual-centered approaches in mainstream analyses, and alternative perspectives focusing on class relations. Social policy frameworks ranging from the Beveridge and Bismarck models to theoretical contributions by Esping-Andersen were discussed. The effects of neoliberal transformations and contemporary concepts such as “neo-feudalism” on social policy perceptions were critically examined. The discussion also focused on the commodity form of labor power, the concept of collective worker, and the impact of technological transformations in production
