La ironía como ambigüedad intencional: una lectura hermenéutica y crítica del sentido literal del lenguaje

Abstract

Este artículo propone que la ironía no es una figura literaria sino la ambigüedad intencional del sentido de la obra literaria, un componente estilístico impuesto por el autor. Es producto de una revisión documental analítica e interpretativa. Primero, se contextualiza la discusión y se presentan los objetivos. Luego se discuten cuatro concepciones de la ironía: como acto de habla, práctica, trópica y no trópica. Se sostiene que el común denominador de las cuatro posturas es que asumen la ironía como un instrumento discursivo empleado para ocultar un sentido que existe, pero que no se expresa de manera literal. Seguidamente, se toma distancia respecto a estas perspectivas argumentando déficits en la comprensión que tienen de la ironía como modalidad específica del discurso. Se concluye que la ironía es una ambigüedad intencional que, como impronta estilística, le permite a su lector hacer una propuesta de sentido que lo reta y compromete.
