Abstract

The aging population faces increasing challenges in managing medication schedules, especially when it comes to drugs requiring strict temperature and humidity control. MedFreez is an innovative IoT-enabled smart freezer system designed to ensure the safe storage and timely administration of temperature-sensitive medications for elderly individuals. This system combines intelligent environmental control with real-time monitoring, ensuring that medications such as insulin, certain antibiotics, and biologics remain within prescribed storage conditions. MedFreez utilizes integrated sensors to continuously track temperature and humidity levels within the storage compartment. When deviations occur, the system automatically adjusts environmental parameters and sends alerts to caregivers or family members via a mobile application. The system also features automated reminders, voice alerts, and cloud-based logs to promote adherence to medication schedules and reduce the risk of missed or improperly stored doses. Built with user-friendly interfaces and remote access functionality, MedFreez offers a seamless experience for both elderly users and their caregivers. Its modular design supports scalability and easy integration into home or institutional healthcare environments. By merging IoT technologies with smart storage solutions, MedFreez represents a significant step toward safer, more reliable elderly medication management, enhancing both health outcomes and quality of life for aging individuals.
