Charting the Cosmos Online: Astrology as Lived Contemporary Esotericism in Digital Communities This paper explores how astrology functions as a form of lived esotericism within digital culture. Through qualitative analysis of media produced by astrologers on YouTube, Instagram, Reddit, and podcasts, it examines how symbolic knowledge, ritualized engagement, and participatory interpretation construct contemporary esoteric identity. Drawing on theories from Granholm, Hanegraaff, Campbell, Meyer, Faivre, and Bell, the study argues that astrology today operates as a hybrid spiritual system—mediated by platforms, visual aesthetics, and emotional narratives. The findings suggest that digital astrology transcends entertainment, becoming a ritual interface where users engage with symbolic systems to navigate identity, healing, and cosmology.
