Universitäre Fachsprache zwischen KI und Partizipation: Das Projekt UniTermGPT

Abstract

Presentation held at the Tagung zu Sprachforschung und Citizen Science 2025 in Mannheim held on 14 July 2025: „Durch eine gemeinsame Sprache getrennt“ beschreibt die Unterschiede zwischen den Varietäten des Deutschen in Österreich, Deutschland, der Schweiz und Südtirol. Diese Unterschiede betreffen nicht nur die Gemeinsprache, sondern auch Fachsprachen wie die Universitätsterminologie. Daher stellt sich die Frage, wie moderne Technologien wie Large Language Models in der Fachübersetzung mit varietätenspezifischer Terminologie umgehen. Das Projekt UniTermGPT untersucht deswegen den Umgang von ChatGPT mit hochschulspezifischer Terminologie bei der Übersetzung. Zentrales Element des Projekts ist Citizen Science: Übersetzer*innen und Terminolog*innen an Universitäten erarbeiten gemeinsam mit den Wissenschafter*innen Annotationsrichtlinien, die sie bei der Evaluierung der durch ChatGPT generierten Übersetzungen selbst anwenden. Dabei dienen ein Korpus institutioneller Texte und Terminologieressourcen aus Österreich, Deutschland und Südtirol als Grundlage für die Analyse. UniTermGPT verknüpft so den Einsatz modernster Technologien für die Übersetzungspraxis mit gesellschaftlicher Teilhabe. Das Projekt zeigt auf, wie Citizen Science zur Qualitätssicherung in der KI-gestützten Übersetzung beitragen kann: mit Relevanz für Fachkommunikation, Sprachpolitik und Terminologierichtlinien.
