Safe Mobility Data Space and Simulation Platform

Authors: Frontier Innovations;

Safe Mobility Data Space and Simulation Platform

Abstract

SOTERIA aims to accelerate the attainment of European Union (EU)’s Vision Zero through a holistic framework of innovative models, tools and services that enable data-driven urban safety intelligence, facilitate safe travelling of Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs) and foster the safe integration of micro-mobility services in complex environments. In parallel, the project explores behavioural characteristics of VRUs and engages communities in different locations across Europe in social innovation activities for the co-creation of urban safety solutions. Deliverable D2.1 | Safe Mobility Data Space and Simulation Platform represents a significant milestone, showcasing the functionalities and capabilities of the Safe Mobility Data Space (SMDS)and the Advanced Accident Analysis and Safety Intelligence Platform. It reflects the efforts and intensive work conducted from the SOTERIA project’s initiation through month 18, coveringall aspects of the work undertaken during that period, from data identification and integration, to the architectural design of the components, all the way through an initial demonstration of their implementation and results.The SMDS provides a robust infrastructure for data integration, facilitating data ingestion from various sources, pre-processing and harmonisation of data from assorted sources and converting them into unified formats that meet the current and future needs of the project. Alongside this, the Accident Analysis Module provides the tools to analyse data, identify potential accident hotspots,and estimate accident risks. The Data Visualisation Module provides the means for graphical representations of the data to support stakeholders in the management of VRU safety.As the SOTERIA project progresses, these integrated modules are set to play a key role in thedevelopment of a SOTERIA platform and the overall goals of the SOTERIA project towards advancing the EU’s Vision Zero initiative, aiming to eliminate all road fatalities and serious injuries while ensuring safe and sustainable urban mobility for all
