Expectativas escolares vs. distancia

Abstract

Antecedentes. La dispersión geográfica una de las características definitorias de la comarca de Verín (Galicia), se observa que la distancia media que deben de realizar los/as menores para cursar primaria es de 15,47 km. y casi el doble (28,58 km.) para secundaria, siendo ésta mayor en áreas rurales que en rururbanas o próximas a éstas, especialmente en secundaria. Método. El objetivo de esta investigación es determinar en qué medida la distancia supone una variable relevante con relación a las expectativas escolares, y analizar qué elementos estructurales entran en juego. Para ello, se ha aplicado una encuesta a todo el alumnado de 4ºESO de los cuatro centros educativos de la comarca de Verín (n= 131). Resultados. Los resultados evidencian que no se percibe el hecho de tener que desplazarse como un problema importante. No obstante se observa que el alumnado considera esta cuestión como un problema es: de sexo femenino, de centros públicos, de ámbito rural, repetidor, con peor valoración del expediente académica, menor motivación educativa y señalan que la distancia existente respecto al centro donde se imparten los estudios deseados es superior. Conclusiones. La distancia supone una variable determinante ligada a las expectativas escolares del alumnado, especialmente en el de tipo rural.
