This manual is designed for municipal officers, planners, project managers, policymakers, and elected officials in Europe dedicated to fostering sustainable, healthy, and equitable local food systems. Transformative food policies require a systemic approach due to their complexity and the challenges at the implementation level. Despite limited resources, many cities are emerging as leaders in transforming food production and consumption, underpinned by organic methods and agroecology. The manual is organized into three chapters: Chapter 1 discusses the negative impacts of globalized food systems, advocating for local food policies. Chapter 2 explores cultivated biodiversity and the role of municipalities in agroecological food systems. Chapter 3 outlines the LiveSeeding project's process for integrating cultivated biodiversity into local food policies and offers 32 practical examples from European municipalities.
