Comportamiento de tres especies de tortuga marina en la Isla de Roatán, Islas de la Bahía, Honduras

Abstract

Se evaluaron y compararon los comportamientos de tres especies de tortugas marinas (Eretmochelys imbricata, Caretta caretta, Chelonia mydas) en diferentes sitios de buceo del municipio de José Santos Guardiola y el Oeste de Roatán (West Bay, West End y Sandy Bay). Los monitoreos se dieron desde el 29 de marzo hasta el ocho de noviembre del año 2024, mediante buceo autónomo (scuba diving) en transectos con duración de 60 minutos. Se registraron diferentes comportamientos para las tres especies que ocurren en la isla de Roatán. El comportamiento que más se documentó fue nadando (desplazamiento natatorio horizontal) con interacciones entre ellas y el encuentro de una tortuga caguama muerta. Es de suma importancia estudiar los comportamientos de estas especies, pues permite un mejor conocimiento para su conservación
