Evaluación de la conectividad para el puma (Puma concolor) en El Corredor Biológico la Unión, El Paraíso, Honduras

Abstract

Se evaluó la conectividad ecosistémica de los bosques conforman el Corredor Biológico La Unión (CBLU) para la población de pumas y sus presas, el cual lo conforman geográficamente tres municipios, siendo estos: el municipio de Gϋinope, Yuscarán y Oropolí en el departamento de El Paraíso. Se utilizó el programa GRAPHAB 2.8.5, para analizar la viabilidad de los fragmentos de bosque y los enlaces que funcionan como corredores. De acuerdo con los resultados del análisis, en el CBLU, se identificaron siete grandes fragmentos, categorizados según el Índice Integral de conectividad (IIC) de bajos, medios y altos y para los enlaces categorizados de muy baja y baja conectividad. Es de suma importancia que se trabaje a nivel local con los municipios y sus comunidades, para mantener y mejorar las condiciones de conectividad, especialmente para el puma, que es la especie indicadora en este corredor. Las instancias responsables de la conservación y ambiente en el país, el Instituto de Conservación Forestal (ICF), la Secretaría de ambiente (SERNA), ONG de comanejo y los municipios, deben de implementar las estrategias que faciliten la regeneración y/o restauración de los enlaces de paisaje o corredores entre fragmentos en cada uno de los municipios.
