Brief description and aim This dataset contains result from a CFD campaign performed by the research group of the Industrial Engineering Department (DIN) of the University of Bologna, led by Prof. Emanuele Ghedini, and the joined effort of the Lecco's ASST, Alessandro Manzoni Hospital, led by Dr. Giovanni Rossi. The "Aberrant Subclavian Artery CFD Dataset" gathers results on the Aberrant Subclavian Artery (ASA) hemodynamic simulation. This initiative aims to aid the scientific community in modelling, analysis, and understanding of rare vascular pathologies, with a continuously growing dataset. Dataset structure The dataset is composed of 12 total patients, divided into “Pathologic” (6 subjects with ASA – folder name: M#caseNumber.zip) and “Healthy” (6 subjects with healthy anatomies - folder name: H#caseNumber.zip). CFD simulations are carried out using the same BC (Boundary Conditions) for each patient. BC are reported numerically (“inlet_velocity.csv”, “outlet_pressure.csv”) inside each case's BC subfolder. Pathologic patients' description ID Gender-Age ASA and associated aortic lesion Right/Left-sided arc Kommerel's diverticulum Retro-esophageal ASA Bicarotid trunk M1 F-74 Ruptured arch aneurysm (zone 2 and 3 of the Ishimaru classification)+ right ASA Left Yes Yes No M2 M-80 Symptomatic right ASA Left Yes Yes No M3 F-73 Thoracic Aortic Dissection (TAAD) + right ASA Left Yes Yes Yes M4 M-76 TAAD+ right ASA Left Yes Yes No M5 M-34 TAAD + right ASA Left No Yes Yes M6 F-80 Asymptomatic left ASA Right Yes Yes No Hemodynamic fields description For each patient, CFD results are collected respectively at the pre-systolic (2.34 s), peak systolic (2.46 s) and diastolic (2.8 s) phases of the last cardiac cycle simulated. For any further methodological detail please refer to the paper related to this dataset. Post-processing can be shown by using Paraview. A MultiBlock .vtm files for each interest timestep is located inside each patient’s directory, under the data subdirectory, together with a Paraview state .pvsm for pure visualization. The CFD post-processing presented with the dataset is summarized below: • Internal velocity streamlines and velocity glyph at the patch (m/s) • Velocity streamlines’ glyph (m/s) • WSS (Wall Shear Stress) distribution map and direction glyph at the wall (Pa) • Pressure at the wall (Pa) • OSI (Oscillatory Shear Index) distribution map (#) • TVR (Turbulent Viscosity Ratio) distribution map (#) Usage To navigate CFD results for each case, the user must extract the main directory P#caseNumber or H#caseNumber and open Paraview, highly recommended for full compliance. Then, after opening Paraview, select “Load State” and navigate to the desired case’s directory, selecting the Paraview state P#caseNumber.pvsm or H#caseNumber.pvsm. Then, in the successive window, select “Search files under specific directory” from the menu, choosing the data directory.
