Abstract

Este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar as características morfológicas, estruturais e de custo-benefício de escovas dentais amplamente utilizadas no mercado local, com foco naquelas mais indicadas por cirurgiões-dentistas. A pesquisa envolveu a análise de diferentes marcas, comparando aspectos como o preço, a rigidez das cerdas, a resistência ao desgaste e a conformidade com as normas de qualidade estabelecidas pela ANVISA. A análise de tensão foi realizada para avaliar a resistência das escovas à remoção de tufos, seguindo os parâmetros definidos pela Portaria 97/1996. Os resultados indicaram que escovas como Sensodyne e Colgate Slim Soft se destacaram por seu custo-benefício, alta resistência, com forças máximas de tensão muito superiores ao valor mínimo exigido pela ANVISA. Por outro lado, a escova Dental Clear não atendeu aos requisitos mínimos, apresentando uma resistência insuficiente. A análise de custo-benefício revelou que, embora a escova Sensodyne seja a mais acessível, a escova Needs, embora mais cara, oferece uma excelente qualidade, justificando seu preço. As análises realizadas servem como uma ferramenta para as marcas, incentivando-as a melhorar continuamente seus produtos, visando atender melhor às necessidades dos consumidores. Os resultados colaboram tanto para profissionais da odontologia quanto para os consumidores, possibilitando decisões mais assertivas na escolha da escova dental.

This study aimed to analyze the anatomical, structural, and cost-benefit characteristics of widely used toothbrushes in the local market, focusing on those most recommended by dentists.The research involved analyzing different brands, comparing aspects such as price, bristle stiffness, wear resistance, and compliance with quality standards established by ANVISA. Tensile testing was conducted to evaluate the toothbrushes' resistance to tuft removal, following the parameters defined by Ordinance 97/1996. The results indicated that toothbrushes like Sensodyne and Colgate Slim Soft stood out for their cost-benefit and high resistance, with maximum tensile forces far exceeding the minimum required by ANVISA. On the other hand, the Dental Clear toothbrush did not meet the minimum requirements, showing insufficient resistance. The cost-benefit analysis revealed that while the Sensodyne toothbrush is the most affordable, the Needs toothbrush, although more expensive, offers excellent quality, justifying its price. The analyses performed serve as a tool for brands, encouraging them to continuously improve their products to better meet consumer needs. The results contribute to both dental professionals and consumers, enabling more assertive decisions in choosing a toothbrush.
