ISOLATION AND STRUCTURAL ELUCIDATION OF TWO NEW COMPOUNDS FROM THE LEAVES OF CNESTIS POLYPHYLLA (CONNARACEAE) OF MADAGASCAR

Abstract

Two new molecular compounds have been discovered in the leaves ofCnestis polyphylla (Connaraceae), collected in Madagascar. This plant hasverified acute toxicity, which justifies its empirical use. Biological tests, phytochemical screening, guided extraction, and column isolation wereperformed on the plant. The determination of the structures of the twomolecules was carried out using 1D and 2D NMR.
