Abstract

Ce rapport explore les bienfaits pour la santé et les dynamiques de marché de Hibiscus sabdariffa (bissap), une plante médicinale africaine largement utilisée. Riche en antioxydants et en composés bioactifs, l’hibiscus est de plus en plus intégré dans les filières alimentaires, cosmétiques et nutraceutiques. L’étude analyse les données scientifiques disponibles sur ses effets thérapeutiques (cardiovasculaires, métaboliques, immunologiques), les tendances du marché mondial, ainsi que les défis rencontrés par les producteurs africains, tels que la certification, la logistique et l’organisation des chaînes de valeur. Des recommandations sont proposées pour renforcer la filière et promouvoir un développement équitable et durable.

This report explores the health benefits and market dynamics of *Hibiscus sabdariffa* (bissap), a widely used African medicinal plant. Rich in antioxidants and bioactive compounds, hibiscus is increasingly integrated into the food, cosmetic, and nutraceutical industries. The study analyzes scientific evidence on its therapeutic effects (cardiovascular, metabolic, immunological), global market trends, and the challenges faced by African producers, such as certification, logistics, and supply chain organization. Ce travail indépendant a été réalisé par Atoumasamba Sissoko, fondatrice de Trésors d’Afrique et chercheuse indépendante en phytothérapie et agroéconomie. Ce travail a été mené de manière indépendante, hors cadre universitaire, dans une volonté de valoriser les savoirs médicinaux africains et de soutenir une structuration équitable des filières. Il vise à apporter des perspectives concrètes et documentées pour renforcer la reconnaissance de ces ressources dans les dynamiques de santé naturelle, de souveraineté économique et de justice commerciale. This independent work was conducted by Atoumasamba Sissoko, founder of Trésors d’Afrique and independent researcher in phytotherapy and agroeconomics. Conducted outside academic institutions, this work aims to promote African medicinal knowledge and support the fair and sustainable structuring of local herbal value chains. It provides concrete and well-documented perspectives to enhance the recognition of these resources within natural health approaches, economic sovereignty, and trade justice.
