Abstract

Les quatre textes issus de la journée d’études qui portait sur le thème “Institutions, discours et passions dans la modernité” qui s’est tenue à l’École Normale Supérieure de Lyon visaient à aborder la façon dont Spinoza peut nourrir une réflexion interdisciplinaire et contemporaine. Interdisciplinaire d’abord, en raison de l’absence de division, au XVIIe siècle, entre les sciences sociales et les sciences de la nature. Contemporaine ensuite, parce que le contexte de cette époque, fut marqué par une crise des institutions notamment par la remise en cause de l’autorité des anciens sur lesquels se fondaient des arguments religieux et politiques. Or les textes – et notamment ceux de Spinoza – issus de ce mouvement de rupture avec la référence aux anciens, pour privilégier l’expérimentation scientifique en particulier au XVIIe siècle, sont réfléchis par des penseurs de formation philosophique que ce soit d’abord avec des sociologues comme Mauss, Tarde et Durkheim ou des philosophes et sociologues plus récents comme Foucault et Bourdieu
