cubensis Saussure, 1860:129. Syntypes (3 specimens, MHNG [P. Schwendinger, pers. comm.; examined]); type locality: Cuba. Original rank: species. Current rank and status: synonym of S. alternans Leach, 1815 (Kraepelin 1903, Attems 1930, Shelley 2002). Pocock (1893) thought S. cubensis was “probably referrable to S. morsitans,” and Bücherl (1942 a) considered it to be a valid species; I confirm the synonymy with S. alternans. Anatomical illustrations: Saussure (1860, pl. 7, figs. 47, 47a, c, p, t), Saussure & Humbert (1872, pl. 5, fig. 11). Remarks: This name was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
