This dataset contains the data obtained and utilized for the manuscript: Quantifying soil resistance to sheet and lateral erosion across different habitats on a managed sandy back-barrier island. This study quantified the erosion resistance to hydraulic forces across a sandy back-barrier island by i) correlating the sheet and lateral soil erosion resistance to sediment and vegetation properties and ii) relating these properties to the past management and development of the island. Erosion data was obtained from sediment cores collected in the field thet where exposed to waves and fast water flow in wave mesocosms and a fast-flow flume respectively. The field data includes sediment and vegetation properties, which were correlated to the top and lateral erosion.
